10 Facts about How Colors Affect Your Appetite …

6. Green color stands for healthy?

Green foods are interpreted to be healthy, whatever the food actually is. This is because ‘safe’ foods used to be green, such as lettuce, apples and cucumber. It was quickly established that most green foods could be eaten without a big risk of death, and so our minds are happy to eat anything green, and we are likely to presume that green food is healthy.

Orange food is usually eaten with caution, as people associate orange with anger. There are very few naturally occurring orange foods, and foods such as curry that contain orange spices are often referred to as ‘angry foods’.

8. The most appetizing packaging …

McDonalds’ red and yellow packaging has been voted the best food packaging, due to their clever use of colors. While both colors encourage hunger, they are also very friendly, and memorable.

9. Put a blue light in your fridge …

Experts recommend putting a blue light in your fridge when you are dieting, as this will put you off eating. You could also try having a blue colored kitchen, or incorporating some blue cutlery. This should be a brilliant diet aid, and will also give you a very modern kitchen!

White food is easy to pick at, and to forget that it contains calories. So that’s why it’s so easy to snack on bread! Using a black bread bin could combat this, however.

So now you know the tricks, try using color psychology to your advantage. Need to help your friend eat more? Take a selection of red and yellow foods, and eat from red plates. Trying to diet? Then use blue plates and avoid buying white foods. Simple, right?

I must agree with that theory. I would prefer to have yellow cake instead of the same cake in blue or purple.
But I do love blueberries, black currents, and concord grapes!!!
Did you every try a red orange?

Isn’t it crazy to actually realize that we are eating with our “eyes” too, so it’s mainly the way the food looks that makes us all so hungry for it. I tried to imagine different kinds of food in blue color, like soup or salad, and they all seem to be so unappetizing, so I too agree with this color theory.

PS: I don’t know why the comments do that, but they all seem to appear on the website later on, no worries :)

    I just left a comment and it disappeared….those gremlins….

I said that that I do agree with the theory about our attraction to certain foods because of its color.
If I had to chose between a yellow cupcake and blue or purple cupcake, I would definitely select the yellow one. But then again, I love blueberries, black currants, and concord grapes.
    How about red oranges?

Robert: In any study, there are always outliers or people who do not fit the mold. You are one of these people. Conclusions are always based on the average or normal. This does not mean that there is something wrong with you :)

Yes, if you remember earlier on in the years, maybe 2002 at grocery stores, they would sell the multi-colored ketchup! Who remembers that? They would be purple, green, and yellow, but I was always too grossed out to try one and stuck with red ketchup!!!
