Making New Friends

Making New Friends Getting out and making new friendsis a great way to eliminate stress at work. And if you are naturally social, this should come easily. The important thing here is to make sure your new friends are not people you work with. The last thing you need is work being brought up into the conversation when you are having a good time.

Spending Time with Old Friends

Spending Time with Old Friends As you move on from college to work, it's easy to move on from old friends to new. And while there's nothing wrong with making new friends, I think it's important to find time to spend with old friends. There's nothing like reminiscing about the good old days to forget all about work issues. My college gang and I make sure we atleast catch up twice a month if not more. It is truly rejuvenating!

Take a Vacation

Going on a vacation sounds like a great idea! And I know that a lot of you cannot afford to take a long break but even a weekend getaway can make a big difference. Make sure you go to some place that does not remind you of work and don't carry your work along. The key is to get as far away from work as you possibly can. Considering I work from home, I know I'm leaving my latop behind when I go on a vacation!

Go out on a Date

There's nothing like putting on a sexy dress and some high heels and going out with a great guy to leave work woes behind. During the date, try not to dwell on the subject of work and remember to have fun! Even a bad date is good for some laughs with your girlfriends later on....

Go Shopping

I have noticed thatshopping eases my mind. How about you? If you are a girl, then I am sure you answered yes to this one. When you are shopping to get rid of work related stress, don't go looking for work outfits or makeup for work. Look for something to wear outside...maybe on a date or a girls night out. How about a sexy number in red? Or those killer heels that you've always coveted?

Go to the Beach

I live in Florida, so it's easy for me to go to the beachand soak up some sun. Although, I do not like laying out in the sun, I do like taking a stroll on the beach. It really does help to eliminate stress. I love the sound of the ocean, the sand under my feet, the child walking beside me with my husband as the wind blows through my hair. It really is calming and magical!

Avoid Difficult People

Point blank, you should avoid difficult people (as much as possible anyway). You know exactly who they are. People who exist to make others' lives impossibly hard. If you take a moment to think about it, then you will be able to identify all of these people in your life. Bosses, customers, friends, family, coworkers, etc. The more you let them get to you, the more stressed out you are going to feel.

Be Grateful

Be grateful for what you have. This may sound like an obvious tip, but to some, it's not. Develop a positive attitude and eliminate those negative thoughts from your life. Quit whining. You will be amazed at the difference that will make. Always remember no matter how hard your life is and no matter how big the challenges, there's always someone out there who is suffering a lot more than you are.

Live in the Present

Do you live in the past? Do you constantly worry about how you could have changed certain things had you acted a certain way? In Samantha's words, "Woulda Coulda Shoulda". You can't change the past. You can't be certain of the future. All you have is now.

Cuddle with Your Four Legged Friend

Cuddle with Your Four Legged Friend I do not know about you, maybe some of you out there do not like animals, but I absolutely adore animals! I love every single one of them, even my snake! I enjoy cuddling with my iguana, bearded dragon, pit bull and cat! If you have a four-legged friend, then try cuddling with him or her. Or better still, take them out on a walk! They will definitely help uplift your spirits! Above this, is a picture of my pit bull, Copper.

I wish I can have sex in office... BUT! I don think I can do any of these IN office... So still trying to figure how can I eliminate stress at work.

These are really good tips. I've found that listening to good music helps to relieve work stress. I usually pop in earphones while I'm at work and listen to my favorite artists while updating reports and answering emails, it helps to tune out the madness!

Exercise is probably the #1 tip ever! fantastic for reliving stress and tension! LOL I just thought of this.. what if someone constantly stresses out about doing exercise to lower their stress level? =P

I don't have a 4-legged friend :( My tried and tested methods are shopping, sewing, yoga, and chilling with friends.

Sheila, the four day week sounds great, even if I had to work 10 hours each day, it would be great, but unfortunately I do not see that in my near future. Jessica, hopefully you and your husband find your middle ground to lessen the stress. It is not good to have too much stress in a marriage. Spouses supposed to be best friends. I would suggest to sit down together, and write down all the positive and negative things about each other. Then learn to appreciate the positive traits in each other, and grow your relationship based on these traits, rather than dwell on the negative.

it would be great to add tips for in office chilaxing - something like breathing

This is great points.. if im stressed out at work then i always give my friends a call and we have a catch up over a few bottles of wine and a take away or spend the day spending our hard earned money in the shops and i always come away from it forgetting what im stressing about.. I also find that a lovely hot bath with bubbles a few candles and my favourite playlist on my iPod relaxes me after a stresful day in the office.

I grew up near the beach and use to love walking along the water edge with my dog - sadly there are no beaches in London. But I do find time to go for hikes or walks in a park so i have some connection to nature.
