Scarring

Popping pimples causes scarring, and that’s far worse and much more permanent than a tiny little pimple.

Scabs

Even if you don’t develop a scar, you’ll certainly get a nasty, crusty scab, and that’s so much less attractive, and difficult to conceal, than a pimple!

Infection

Squeezing or popping a pimple can easily lead to an infection. Some infections may even require medical attention, along with a goopy funny-smelling topical anti-biotic.

It Makes New Pimples

Did you know that squeezing the goo out of pimples actually causes new pimples to form? Another great reason not to pop a pimple, right?

Even if your pimple doesn’t scab over, make new pimples, or scar when you pop it, it will still take longer to heal. I don’t know about you, but I want a pimple to heal faster, not slower!

Harder to Cover up!

If you squeeze a pimple, it will become red and swollen and sore, aside from the possibility of infection and scabbing. It may not sound like a big deal… until you try, and fail, to use concealer to cover it.

If your pimple is feeling sore and swollen, try a small ice pack for a few minutes to make it feel better. But don’t pop it! There are a lot of over-the-counter remedies that can help you heal a pimple really quickly, sometimes just overnight, so try one of those instead! If the pimple has a white head then popping it seems like a better option. It does provide relief. It doesn't really leave a scar. I get really irritated with pimples. Sometimes I put toothpaste on it for half an hour to an hour so it goes away quicker. It does help. It shouldn't be over done because I have gotten mixed results. It has peeled that part of skin before.

All these reasons are true but sometimes I just can't help it :) The fact that it takes longer to heal it drives me crazy:D

I agree with suburbangrandma! I think it's okay once it becomes a white head and as long as you're gentle and sanitary. I actually made it a new year's resolution to stop popping pimples... when I would stop to look at one I'd end up spending many minutes scrutinizing my face in front of the mirror. It started to drive me crazy. Time to stop :)

I can't help it.. D: I find when you squeeze it, do it in the shower or put on a topical. otherwise it forms a scar a lot of the times. And a bump is harder to coverup a lot of the times.. the zit always shows through the skin ):

Actually, when I had those issues, I found popping a "ripe" pimple gave relief. But you need to have clean hands, and immediately dab the broken skin with rubbing alcohol. It promoted healing, and stopped the original throbbing pain. I think the alcohol killed the bacteria and stopped it from multiplying. I also know some people applied ice to a painful pimple.

Those worda are so true!!! Popping a pimple could lead to a serios infection especailly if with the bacteria you contaminate your whole face. Some scrub to dry out those pimples at night would really help!
