Your energy level is no longer the same and you can’t seem to get a good night’s sleep. Insomnia definitely has a draining effect on the human mind and body. This can affect the performance at a job, in relationships and the health. It is recommended that one should get at least eight hours of sleep each night. At some point, ten percent of the population is going to have problems trying to fall asleep. If you are having problems sleeping, then you should take these 10 home remedies for insomnia in mind:

If you are trying to fall asleep at night and have been having troubles, then getting a comfortable pillow may help you out. You should get rid of any pillows that are too soft or too hard.

I know, I know, you won’t be able to see the time, but that is the purpose! You can cover the clock and still keep the alarm on. The more unaware you are of the time, the better you are going to sleep. At least, this is a trick I have discovered. You will no longer stay awake looking at that clock!

If you have been having some problems getting to sleep at night, then try eating some oats each day. Start off with a bowl of hot cereal. This may help you out.

If your mind is racing throughout the day, then this pace could have an effect on your sleep patterns. It could cause you to lay in bed, awake at night. In order to encourage your sleep, set aside ten minutes to recap your day. Think about how tomorrow will be and what you have accomplished today. This way, you will not be thinking about stuff in bed.

It is important that you know the role of your bed. Your bed is for sleeping. If you use it to watch television in, play video games, talk on the phone, read books, eat meals, check your email or balance your checkbook, then it is going to be hard for you to fall asleep.

Do you think that nap you take each day could be causing you to have trouble sleeping? Naps could make it harder for some to fall asleep at night. If a nap is needed, then do not take one for more than thirty minutes. Also, avoid those catnaps after 3 PM.

If you are looking for natural insomnia treatment, then herbs and peppermint will help. They will relax the body and calm the nerves. I mix one tablespoon of sage, one tablespoon of rosemary and two tablespoons of peppermint. Add one teaspoon of this mixture to a cup of boiling water. Cover the brew up and let it sit there for ten minutes. Strain the liquid and drink. I like adding some honey for sweetener.

You should create the ideal temperature for sleeping in your room. I like to make it really cold, which puts me right to sleep. Make sure your bedroom has a temperature that makes you want to crawl under the covers, cuddle up and go to sleep.
