Commit to Commitment

To commit is to decide. To choose to stick with a decision no matter what happens. Marriage vows ask us to commit to our partner for better or worse, in sickness and health, ‘til death do you part. If you are a religious person, you know the only “get out of jail free card” from marriage is if one or the other partner breaks a commandment. So if that is the case why do 65-70% of marriages end in divorce? Why commit to a maybe? I firmly believe in the institution of marriage but like so many other institutions created a lifetime ago, perhaps the rules are a little dated. Maybe it is time to make marriage work for your own individual relationship. That may or may not require legalities.

Heading nowhere in Anthony’s 68 Mustang, Anthony gripped the steering wheel tightly. I knew something was awry when our curvy road cruise ended with a detour back to town.

“Where are we going?” I questioned. Trouble brewed behind his long dark lashes. “We need to talk.” In the 3 ½ months we’d been dating, I nor my friends and family could find fault in Anthony’s character. The consensus; he was crazy about me. I knew that no matter how it seemed, people change their mind. If you are not prepared, you may as well just plop your ass right down on that track and wait for the train to hit you.

Does Being Bisexual Mean Never Being Able to Commit?

It was something I’d never really thought about, after all I didn’t have my first real relationship until I was twenty-one and I’d never had a relationship with another woman. I’d had a crush or two but never acted on it, my boyfriend in fact was the one that had initiated the topic of dating at all. So when an old friend (read old crush/best friend) came back into my life and I realized that same ache of longing and sexual attraction was still there in relation to her I didn’t know what to do. Add to this that she was bisexual too and I lost my head.
