50 Healthiest Foods: An Ultimate Grocery Shopping List for Losing Weight …

I’m the one who does the grocery shopping each week, and I’ve really made a commitment lately to buy only the healthiest foods possible for my family. So, I’ve spent a lot of time researching and reading about the best foods for us to eat that would not only be good for our bodies, but will also help us to lose weight.

And here’s my list of the top 50 healthy foods to put in your cart, organized in a neat little shopping list for you!

Dairy:

1. Reduced fat milk … I always buy skim to save on calories while getting my vitamins in.

2. Reduced fat cheese

3. Egg replacement product … I love EggBeaters egg whites only.

4. Yogurt … I choose one with active cultures for digestive health.

I’ve heard that whole grain is better for you than whole wheat. So if you can find whole grain bread rather than whole wheat…Pepperidge Farm’s 15 grain and oatmeal bread is pretty good.

Veggies I get include which are not on your list are: Celery, Kale & Cabbage. I like to make a nice healthy Cabbage Veggie Soup, which freezes well and is so nutritious! I also love to make a wonderful easy Kale Soup which is so healthy and packed with tons of essentials. I love to have celery on hand to have as a snack with 100% real peanut butter. Yum!

Nice list of grocery shopping list, but I have to cut out the canned tuna and salmon because I have allergies to seafood. Any ideas to substitute this?

I am so glad you liked this list! I had it printed a couple of weeks ago and now I take it to the store whenever I do grocery shopping.

I am also not a big fan of sea food (although, not allergic to it), and I substitute it with white meat, like organic turkey and chicken breast. These have all the proteins we are missing on not eating fish.

Another good thing to try is to replace ground beef with vegetable based “meat”. For example, a Boca Burger which is a vegan “burger” is only 70 calories with only 1 gram of fat and NO sat.fat, and NO trans fat. This is significantly less than ground beef. Not to mention, they actually taste pretty good, and come in different varieties to choose from.

The only thing I would eat on your list is the fruit, everything else is an insult to my mouth.

Yeah, fruit’s my favorite food. It makes up at least 80% to 90% of my diet.

Wow, you’ve got an amazing diet then! Congratulations!

But unfortunately not all people can follow this diet, some of them need their proteins and carbs… My husband, for instance, can not, but have a piece of white meat and eggs every day.

      to Shelby:

Hi! We’ll make this list in the PDF format today, so that it comes out nice once you print it out. Have you tried Fedex Kinkos, you just buy a card there (minimal is $5) and you can do ANYTHING there: print out documents, scan, even print out pictures! You just put that card into the copying machine and it charges you.

      Hope this helps!

The more protein foods – the better, it means: white meat, beans, fish. Diary products, like different kinds of cheese and 0% yogurts will also be a great choice.

is a sandwich with two pieces of cheese and turkey with mayonaise and wheat bread kind of healthy?

      to Jessica:

It depends on the ingredients, first off, you need whole wheat bread (preferably, organic), organic turkey, good cheese (not the processed one that was already sliced up and put into a little plastic pack). About mayonnaise – try to substitute it with something – organic soar cream, hummus, organic spread cheese, some pepper, some salt. Now this is a healthy snack :)

      Hope this helps!

Awesome shopping list! I am nutrition student and have to agree that this list is quite nutritious! I was happy to see quinoa listed under grains, but I would have to liked to see kale listed under vegetables, as well as all sea vegetables. Other than that, looks great!
