Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are among the short list of Hollywood couples who**<a title="12 Celebrity Couples Still Going Strong …" href="https://allwomenstalk.com/12-celebrity-couples-still-going-strong/">make marriage look easy**. They met on the set of Hanks show "Bosom Buddies" in 1981, but didn't find the spark between each other until they came together again on the set of the movie, "Volunteers" in 1985.
Hanks admitted to Esquire magazine that while he and Rita were falling in love on the set of a movie, back home were his wife and two children.
But the reality is, it was a young marriage and a difficult marriage. I had two kids, great kids. And I wasn't so naive not to think that there were going to be repercussions. But I knew what was and was not. I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn't be denied," Hanks said.
He divorced his first wife in 1987 and remarried Rita in 1988. Their first child, Chester Marlon was born in 1990 and their second child, Truman Theodore, was born in 1995. Hanks also had two children with his first wife, actor Colin Hanks was born two months before they were married and their daughter Elizabeth Hanks was born in 1982.
Hanks and Wilson grew up in two very different worlds, while Wilson's family was as close as a Greek family could get, Hanks parents were getting a divorce when he was just five years old. However, they both fell into the love of acting at a young age.
Hanks and Rita make family a priority and have kept their marriage going strong for twenty years by doing so. They support each other in every way and even work together when the chance comes along like it did with "My Big Fat Greek Wedding", in which they helped produce and "Mamma Mia", in which they were the executive producers.
