Despite their political differences, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have kept their marriage going strong for 22 years. Shriver's mother was John F. Kennedy's sister and though she was reluctant to follow the family’s political history, Shriver found herself in love with a man who would become Governor of California.
Schwarzenegger found his way from Austria to the United States in the late 1960s and a few years later he won his first Mr. Olympia.
While the body-builder was busy with a documentary called, “Pumping Iron“, his future wife Shriver was graduating from Georgetown University as she began her journey into the world of news as a producer for KYW in Philadelphia.
Shriver was just 21 years old when she first met Schwarzenegger in 1977. He, was 30 years old and trying to make a name for himself in Hollywood.
They were at a celebrity tennis tournament that was held in honor of her late uncle, Robert Kennedy, when they laid eyes on each other. They married nine years later in front of a crowd that included Barbara Walters and Oprah Winfrey.
Although they have seen many ups and downs, Shriver and Schwarzenegger have brought love, devotion, and four children to their marriage.

I'm not perfect," Schwarzenegger admitted to Newsweek , "but I know that out of millions of women, I found the one who understands me and my drive."
