Hairdryers and Straighteners Should Not Be Regularly Used

Some hairstylists are better at this than others but in general they tend not to explain to you the damage that regular hairdryer and straightener use may cause. In my opinion they should do because many people are not aware of how much these items dry their hair.

That They Are Unable to Help You with Your Problems

A lot of clients walk into a salon with a load of problems on their shoulders, which they decide to talk to their stylist about. The hair stylist does not turn around and say that they do not want to listen or that they are unable to help with your problems. Instead they listen patiently to all you have to say and even ask questions along the way, in my opinion this is a very good quality.

To Wash Your Hair as Little as Possible

In my opinion I wish that hairdressers would tell you that you should wash your hair as little as possible and not everyday. This does depend on your hair texture and I have only recently found a hairdresser who has explained all of this to me.

When You Look Awful

Hair stylists see you when you are at your best and when you are at your worst. When you are not feeling fantastic they do not tell you that you look awful, in most cases they will think of something positive to say in an attempt to make you feel better. In my opinion this is one of the nicest things that a hair stylist can do.

You Have Your First Grey Hair

This is one of those sensitive matters that many people do not want to know, especially when the chances are that they have not noticed their first grey hair. In my experience hairdressers normally do not mention this to you; they keep their mouths shut unless of course you bring it into the conversation.

They do Not Remember You

When you think about the number of people that pass through the hairdresser’s everyday, the chances are that they will not remember the next time that they see you. Some people when they walk into a salon will ask for what they had done last time, I have yet to hear one of the hairdressers say that they have no idea what that was.

There are so many of us that go into a hair salon and ask for a style that some well known celebrity is wearing. We think that it will look fantastic but the hairdresser knows otherwise and they do not tell us that this style will look hideous on us. Often we are left to find hard the harsh way, directly afterwards when we look in the mirror.

There you have 7 things your hair stylist doesn’t tell you. Some of these might help you to think about what it is that your stylist goes through everyday. So, what did you think about this blog?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Since I was little, my whole family and I have been seeing the same two ladies more on than off; recently though, I have been seeing one of the two; Chrissy. Honestly, she is probably the best hair dresser I know. She remembers my name, my style, and she knows a lot about me that she cares for and remembers too! Plenty of times she has told me if a cut is going to look bad or not, she is always honest with her clients.

Some of these are decent point, it's true that they're not able t help with problems, etc. But my hairdresser remembers my name, along with the other ladies that work there. They know what I like to get done to my hair, they're open and honest about styles (I have a round face and have been saved from looking like a bowling ball many a time) and they show empathy if I have issues, they remember things I've said, ask questions and honestly tell me if I look like I'm having a bad day. If someone, anyone who works in a service role, be it hairdressing, retail fashion, shoes, jewelry, etc treats you like these points say they might, it's time to move on.

good 7 I'm a hairstylist and I think your right on

Actually, my hairdresser (who has been cutting my hair for the past 15 years, has told me many of these things including "Avoid the flat iron." "I don't remember which cut I gave you last time." and "I'm sorry, honey, but that cut is going to look really bad, how about ________?"

I am a stylist and I have to tell you are wrong. I will not do a style on a client if I don't think it is suitable . I will tell them the truth if their hair looks dated or just plain silly. I will try to help them with their problems and I tell my clients not to wash their hair or iron or blow-dry daily. We are not all the same. Not all sylists care only about the money.I love my work and care for my clients.
