You can't really be "caught" smoking if you're not trying to hide it. Bravo to all the celebs who aren't ashamed to smoke. If more of us smokers stood up for our rights, there wouldn't be so many smoking bans.

I am disappointed with this list. It mentioned Dave Navarro twice, but completely left Johnny Depp off the list! BAD FORM! Personally, I think everyone who looks down on smokers should get a reality check, and thank them instead. Smokers in the UK alone contribute enough money in tobacco tax to run the police force for a year. So next time you see someone puffing away, instead of pointedly forcing yourself to cough, how about you thank them for keeping your tax bill down.

Here are just some random thoughts on the subject. Many people have habits other than smoking that are just as unhealthy as smoking, and some have ones that are dangerous to themselves and / or others. People are more irritating these days, probably because of the overcrowding, and that's one of the reasons we smokers smoke. We can still be nice regardless. I've been off and on all my life. I go back and forth. I'm on now; I smoke two packs a week. But I find that annoying people don't bother me half as much when I'm on. I don't know whether it's the reward of it or because it really is calming. I suppose we smoke because it gets harder to take life straight these days because it gets harder to deal with as each decade goes by. It's much easier to concentrate as a smoker, especially when the pressure is worse these days with people doing the work of three people, not to mention the widespread bullying perpetrated by bosses. There's also the necessity of having to keep up with and learn all of the technology. There are all kinds of threats coming at us from all sides now too. Last but not least, smokers can deal with it all and easily stay slender without dieting.
