PRODUCT REVIEW: GNC Women's Hair, Skin & Nails Formula
Okay, I know it's not a makeup or skin care item, but in my midst of makeover greatness, my hair coloring has decided to play a joke on my hair. As in falling out. And NOT growing back in the process. Well, no, it does grow back, but it takes F_O_R_E_V_E_R. So much so that I can stretch out my hair color to about every 2 months.... if I really wanted it too.
So a recent haircut thanks to a PR shoot had left me with my hair a tiny bit shorter (well, only 3/4") than I wanted, but funny how that 3/4" seems like a lot. So my hairstylist recommended Biotin vitamins to help my hair to stop falling out.
So off I go vitamin shopping.
Enter GNC's Women's Hair, Skin & Nails Formula.
I only got this one because it had the most Biotin (2500 mcg) of anything else on the shelf and actually was the most reasonable.
Two weeks later, I'm taking the recommended 2 tablets a day, and let me just say: O h, M Y, G O D!
My hair literally stopped falling out completely after 2 weeks. As in, no handfuls of hair coming off in my hands when I merely just sweep my hand through (I know, it was bad..) And now, my hair is needing color (or let's just say those pesky roots) are now showing in 2 weeks. I'm not seeing results for skin, but a nice benefit also is my nails. Usually they love to split or break off as soon as they get to fingertip length (yep, the length for the dark nail trend lately but still!) but now? My nails are rock hard and I couldn't break them if I wanted to. I've tried. I noticed results in my nails in literally days.
I highly recommend this, specially is you're like me, a no meat eater and partial to soy products rather than dairy. It truly shows that I'm lacking this in my diet and I couldn't be happier. I also noticed that after taking 2 a day for 2 weeks, I then went to 1 a day, and in about 2 weeks, all benefits seemed to stop. Nails got weaker, hair started to fall out again. So you may want to stick with the recommended dosage.
