There is a point where feelings go beyond words. I have lost a real friend. My life — and this country — is better for his being in it." — Robert Redford.
Indeed it is. This is just one of the many kind words that family and friends of actor Paul Newman had to say about his passing.
Hollywood is mourning the loss of such a fine actor who is also a screen legend. The 83-year old actor succumbed to **cancer **and passed away last Friday. During his last hours, Mr. Newman was surrounded by family and friends at his home in Westport, Connecticut.
For those of us who have not had the chance to work with the actor – the image that will probably stick in our minds were his memorable roles in films like in "**The Sting**" and "**Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid**". In both of these films, he starred with friend Robert Redford.
Off-cam, the actor was an avid auto racer, a philanthropist and a real-life hero caring for the less fortunate through his numerous foundations.
Thanks for the film memories that you left and you will most definitely be missed, Mr. Newman.
