You’ll Be Warmer in the Winter
I never could figure out how really thin people were supposed to keep warm during the winter time. I’ve never seen a skinny polar bear. Penguins aren’t long and lanky like flamingos. Fat helps to keep the body warm. There aren’t any blood vessels in fat, so it makes a perfect barrier against the cold.
It’s Great Protection for Organs and Bones
What hurts more, when you hit your shin on an object or your rear end? There is a lot less fat located on your shin, than on your hind end. In short, the more body fat that is present, the better protected the body’s organs and bones become. It is an excellent shock absorber too.
Frequently asked questions
It Makes up Most of Your Brain
Around two-thirds of the human brain is made up of specialized fats. It’s these very same fats that caused your ancestors to evolve so quickly. The special fats surrounding the brain actually enabled them to learn much faster too.
Myelin is Mostly Made up of Fat
Neurons within the human body are covered with myelin, which is made up of 70 percent fat and the rest is protein. This fat is obtained from milk, pecans, almonds, avocados, peanuts, and macadamias. If you were to cut out these fatty foods, your body would have a difficult time collecting enough fat for the formation of myelin.
It’s a Part of You
You can’t hate your body fat without hating yourself because it’s all part of you! Love your body fat and you will love yourself. I know it sounds like one of those hokey self-help tapes, but I think it’s true. It’s hard to be happy with every aspect of your body and your life, but you have to start somewhere.

Scientists are now trying to find a way to boost the levels of good fat in the body while keeping the levels of bad fat lower. Babies have lots of this good body fat. By the time people reach adulthood this good body fat has either become inactive or disappeared completely. Babies use this special body fat to keep warm and little kids use it to burn up calories as they play. I’m all for revving up the good kind and making less room for the bad kind of body fat!
You Wouldn’t Have Energy to do Anything if You Didn’t Have It
Having no body fat means your body is forced to draw energy from elsewhere. If you don’t eat right or try to start your body, then it will start taking protein from your muscles in order to make energy. This is why you need body fat. Not having body fat means your muscles are in danger of being broken down into an energy source. So, love you and your muscles should both love your body fat.
If these 7 reasons to love your body fat don’t make you realize how beneficial body fat is, then I don’t know what will. I think I do my part to stay healthy. If someone doesn’t like my body fat, then I don’t care. I’m the one who has to tote it around and live with it and I’m perfectly happy with that!
