Sheila, let's say you're a trapeze artist. Every time you do a show, you are risking immediate death, but would that make you stupid? Obama smokes, and he is definitely not stupid. Now, I understand fully not wanting smokers to damage your health, and I make sure I don't do that to anyone, unforuneatley there are those who are much more careless. But think about talking on your cellphone when your driving, when people do that they are placing others in danger. Just by being alive you are risking death every day. You can't just place all smokers into one category saying they are all inconsiderate assholes, just like you can't put all Muslims int the group if being terrorists. I'm not saying you should smoke, or like it that others smoke, but you definitely should not judge people because they do.

If people want to smoke than let them smoke! They aren't running up and blowing it in your damn face! Why must people judge EVERYTHING about a person, from weight to features to habits to parenting and more! People need to calm down and instead of taking notice of what other people are doing in their focus on your own, nobody said any of YOU had to smoke so what's the big deal if they do. Ja-heez just chill.

I agree with Annon. And, I try to live my life like this....what you do is your business and yours alone. If you need me, I'll be there for you. But. I will leave you to your vices, whatever they be, we all have them, but if you should ever need me to help you, I'll be the first one there. I guess I also expect the same.

I just feel sorry for them , because they don't realize how much damage they bring to their health.

Here are just some random thoughts on the subject. Many people have habits other than smoking that are just as unhealthy as smoking, and some have ones that are dangerous to themselves and / or others. People are more irritating these days, probably because of the overcrowding, and that's one of the reasons we smokers smoke. We can still be nice regardless. I've been off and on all my life. I go back and forth. I'm on now; I smoke two packs a week. But I find that annoying people don't bother me half as much when I'm on. I don't know whether it's the reward of it or because it really is calming. I suppose we smoke because it gets harder to take life straight these days because it gets harder to deal with as each decade goes by. It's much easier to concentrate as a smoker, especially when the pressure is worse these days with people doing the work of three people, not to mention the widespread bullying perpetrated by bosses. There's also the necessity of having to keep up with and learn all of the technology. There are all kinds of threats coming at us from all sides now too. Last but not least, smokers can deal with it all and easily stay slender without dieting.

Well my little boy is growing healthy and strong :) I stopped smoking as soon as I found out I was expecting him and havent touched a cigarette since :)
