7 Things I Need to Throw out of My Wardrobe ...

Every so often, you need to clean out your closet and make space for your new purchases, but how do you decide which items to get rid off? Alternatively sometimes you need to clean out your closet so that you realize that you do not have anything wearable in your wardrobe. Whatever your reason, here are 7 things you need to throw out of your closet without further delay.

If you haven’t worn it in the last year, you’re probably never going to wear it again. Whether the color has faded, its become to tight, it’s become to loose or it has lost shape, that garment is headed for the dump pile. So stop reminiscing on how much you used to wear it and move along.

2. The One-time Wear Outfits

We all have a couple of one-time wear outfits. It could be the bridesmaid gown you wore for your best friend’s wedding or the Hawaiian costume you donned one crazy New Year’s Eve. It’s time to send these culprits away because let’s face it, you’re never going be wearing it again.

3. The Stained and Ripped ‘seen Better Days’ Tops

Sometimes you hang on to clothes because they are comfortable or flattering or you have happy memories associated with them. However if they have rips, stains or other discolorations, you have to acknowledge, you can’t be seen in public with them. It’s time to say good bye.

4. The ‘not Quite Your Age’ Blouses

We all have those crazy mid-riff bearing tops and super short minis that were wore back in our younger days and if even they still fit and you still look fabulous, you will probably never wear them. You’re too old now for such get-ups so close the chapter on your early twenties and move on to more classy ensembles.

5. The ‘not Quite Your Size’ Outfits

How many clothes do we hang on to telling ourselves – ‘when I lose weight, this will look so great’. Give it up! If you lose weight (and that’s a big ‘if’), chances are you will prefer buying something new and still won’t wear this. Make sure your wardrobe only contains clothes that fit – neither too small or too big. The rest have to find a new home.

6. The in Style, but Not Your Style Get-ups

Sometimes you find yourself rushing to pick up the latest fashion trend and then when you bring it home, you realize that it doesn’t really work for you. Happens to the best of us so don’t beat yourself up about it. Unless of course you keep it in your closet hoping some day it will suit you. Get rid of it now!

7. The ‘ex’ Factor Clothes

Keeping your ex’s shirts in your closet, or the skirt you wore on your first date is senseless if he is no longer in your life. Return the shirt and dump the skirt so that you can move on with your life and maybe find room for new shirts.

Cleaning out your wardrobe allows you to de-clutter your life and start anew. It may break your heart when you’re doing it, but later when you have a roomier closet filled with your latest purchases; it’s definitely going to be well worth the heartbreak.
