If you (or your friend) cross your foot behind your ankle and draw your feet in towards your body, you may be saying, “Stay away from me.” If you are in an uncomfortable situation, your body will want to flee. Why not run with it?

This movement is saying I am very involved with the person I’m talking to and would appreciate no interruptions! A gesture that closes your body off from public view means you are intimately close with your friend and aren’t focused on anyone else in the room.

If the conversation you are involved in causes you anxiety or strife, your feet will be pointed in the direction of fleeing away from that person. So, if you have had a feud, or fight, with him or her, your body will position itself in the route it wants to be walking.
