The who’s who of New York City came out last night for the official launch party of T-Mobile’s G1 smart phone. Stars like Jason Biggs, Aubrey O’Day (Danity Kane), Juliette Lewis, Erika Christensen, Anthony Anderson, and Alan Cumming were all guests of the celebration that included 3 food stations serving up everything from potato knishes to Japanese gummy candy, a stellar performance by Jack White’s The Raconteurs, and personal “mini lessons” on everything G1.
Using Google’s latest technology, Android, the G1 is not only a touch screen, but also offers a few more practical applications than its competitor the iPhone. One of my personal favorites is the ShopSavvy application.
With one picture of any bar code, the G1 tells its user the cheapest place to find the product in proximity to your location. It can even alert you when the product goes on sale…talk about smart shopping!
While the G1 may be the latest in technology, reviewers say the phone needs a little work to catch up with the iPhone. Still, celebs like Jason Biggs said he was already sold on the G1 – though he wouldn’t tell us what phone was currently in his pocket.
I personally did not find the G1 all too aesthetically pleasing, but maybe looks really aren’t everything? One thing’s for sure, Google and T-Mobile know how to throw an awesome party.
