Good for: Teen girl, at least 14 years old
This appeals more to teenaged girls than boys, but boys can do it just as well. Make sure your son or daughter is old enough (at least 14) and has been certified in child CPR by the Red Cross before they work, and also make sure they have worked out a work and payment schedule with the parents.

Good for: Girl or boy, at least 12 years old
This would be perfect for a teen boy or girl who loves animals and being outdoors! Lots of neighbors have large dogs that don't want to be cooped up inside all summer long, so they can hire your son or daughter (at least 12) to walk their dog. Make sure the dog is healthy and up-to-date on shots, first, and make sure the dogs are always on a lead.

Some libraries hire tweens to shelve books or supervise kiddie craft time, and this would be a great summer job for a little bookworm. Check with your local library early in the spring, though, since these jobs tend to go fast!

Another great way for your child to earn money this summer is by washing cars. The owner provides the hose and the car, and your chlid provides the human power, rags, bucket, and suds. Make sure you and the child both know the owner well, and make sure your child is always well-supervised!
