One of my favorite new spring trends is color block. I’m not bold enough to wear it all the time, but it looks so fun, so flirty, I’m determined to rock it more. If you’re with me, and just aren’t sure how to add the look to your wardrobe, keep reading! Here are 7 ways to wear color block… not all at the same time, though, right?
1 Herbs & Spices Dress
How fun and flirty! This color-block dress is all warm hues, from mustard yellow on top to beige on bottom, with a shirt-dress style and a woven belt to accent your tin waist. Wear this dress with patterned tights and wedges, or with a light cardigan and skimmer flats.
2 Color Me Rad Cardigan
What a gorgeous cardigan! It’s cozy and sweet and it beautifully illustrates an easy way to wear color block. It’s made by Danish designer Nümph with a tie-belt waist, short sleeves, and side pockets. Pair with leggings and tall heels or with a short skirt and oxfords. Love it!
3 Elemental Colorblock Top
Price: $39.99 at modcloth.com
This sweetly sheer top is blocked along the scooped neckline with a rainbow of hues, all ready to make your skinny jeans or pencil skirt an outfit. Add sunglasses and a long-line necklace for a look that’s ready to rock with very little effort!
4 Casual Chic Dress
What an interesting twist on a classic cocktail dress! It’s color-block, but in muted grays and blacks, a study in contrasts. It’s also body con, fitted and snug and incredibly hot! Pair with accessories in bright blue or yellow.
5 Party Planning Commit-Tee
Price: $44.99 at modcloth.com
Color block doesn’t have to be shocking or dramatic. As this top proves, it can be sweet and romantic, too! I adore the little loopy flutter sleeves and the colors are so pretty together, mauve and grey and violet. I’d wear this with a floral print tiered mini and a pair of oxfords… how would you wear it?
6 Rachel Antonoff for Bass Saddled with Sweetness Heel
If you only buy one pair of oxfords this season, let it be these! They’re glossy white and bubble-gum pink patent leather, with classic oxford and saddle shoe styling, with a kicker — a satin ribbon lace and 3-inch wood-look heel. Pair with short skirts, office trousers, skinny jeans, flirty rompers… anything!
7 Sunset Beach Heel
Jeffrey Campbell proves, once again, that he understands trends and can make them his own — these shoes illustrate that point precisely, with a tall, thick platform heel and gorgeous color block uppers. I love the contrast between the red and the two-tone denim… I’d wear these with dark skinny jeans, cropped at the ankle, and a stark white tunic.
Eek! I love those color block heels… and those dresses are so cute! I really, really want those Bass heels… I’d wear them all the time! Which of these color block options do you like best, and how would you wear it? Please share!
