This is only the second time that an animated film has been nominated in both the Best Picture and Best Animated Feature. Ofcourse, I didn't expect it to win the Best Picture award but as far as animation goes, the only way to go was Up!
Trust Pixar to create yet another amazing animated flick! Up tells the story of grumpy old Carl who decides to tie a thousand balloons to his house and literally fly to South America to fulfill his dead wife Ellie's dream of having a great adventure. But his peaceful journey is soon cut short when he discovers that an over enthusiastic 8 year old Wilderness Explorer named Russell has somehow managed to get into his house. What follows is a sometimes hilarious, sometimes sweet journey with two people who could not have been more different.
She says: Animation has always been one of my favorite genres and I'm so glad Up won this year! Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually take off like that sometimes? I loved the sweet story of Carl and Ellie but ofcourse my favorite character is Russell. I just want to pull his cheeks and eat him. *evil laugh*
He says: *points and shouts* SQUIRRELL!!! This movie seemed to have it all.. a love story, humor, an embedded dark tale - and the strange part is, this animated venture managed to convey all of these emotions better than most motion pictures do!
It's hardly surprising that this is Pixar's fifth Oscar! Well deserved don't you think?
