Back in the days when the search engine was first set up it used to be called BackRub. I do not know about all of you but I am very happy that they changed the name to Google; it rolls of the tongue easily and sounds more relevant to looking on the web.

This is a great idea because when you are surfing the web you can use the notebook to jot down any information that you may need later. Doing this can be a lot easier than opening up a separate document and typing all of the information.

Google Scholar is very important for those that are studying at University because you can search for more in depth academic information relating to your subject. For example, if studying Psychology you would go onto this section of Google to find different scientific journals and papers. The results found will be more detailed than on the normal Google website.

In my opinion this can be really useful, especially if you are currently learning a new language because you can view the original website, attempt a translation and then view the correct translation. Also you have a favourite music group or movie that is in another language; therefore you can translate the relevant website.

Using the website as a calculator can be very nifty when you do not own one or do not have on to hand. You are able to complete basic mathematics and more complex calculations by using this feature.

There are several dedicated pages that are hidden, such a Google Moms which is dedicated to Mother’s on Mother’s. These pages are often only found if you know where to look or have received a link to the site by a friend.

With Google Documents you are able to share a range of documents, such as Spreadsheets and Presentations, with lots of people. This is done by uploading the document and then giving the other people permission to view the files. You will find this to be particularly useful when more than one person needs to update a document.
