We always want to look our best for the beach season, and what could be more attractive than smooth, healthy, tanned skin? Today, I am sharing my secrets of summer body care - simple and reliable strategies that every girl would appreciate.
To always look gorgeous, your skin only needs 3 things:
- healthy nutrition,
- exposure to the sun,
- and natural body care products.
There’s no question being in the sun gives you that feel good factor and wonderful natural Vitamin D. However, limit your exposure and avoid the hottest times of the day when the sun is at its highest…
Take care of your skin and look fantastic this summer by following these 5 steps:

- A teaspoon of cod liver oil supplies you with the daily requirement of essential fats (including Omega-3 fatty acids), as well as Vitamins D and A, which are crucial for rejuvenating cells and keeping skin moist and smooth.
- Lacto-fermented products such as sauerkraut, yogurt, fish sauce and miso, are highly beneficial for your digestive tract. Good looking skin is a reflection of what you put in your tummy.
- Avoid using sunscreen. Potentially deadly skin cancer (melanoma) is NOT caused by the sun, but by artificial chemicals in our food, air, and… laboratory-produced body care products! Moreover, exposure to the sun is the only way for the body to convert and use Vitamin D - one of the most important fat-soluble vitamins. A word of caution though, use sun in moderation.
- Try a natural body scrub. For clean and glowing skin, use a scrub made of equal amounts of corn flour and honey, once a week.
- Brew your own amazing body lotion. Combine a couple of drops each of essential rose and lavender oils with almond oil, and pamper this fragrant and delectable concoction on your skin after a shower or just before tanning. The results are truly wonderful!
Any skin care discourse which does not include a discussion of nutrition is lacking a fundamental principle of healthy skin care. Good health and beauty are synonymous.
Many of us believe that use of tanning oils on skin and then getting tanned is safe. But that is not true. No tanning oil prevents the sun. If it had prevented sun, you would not have got tanned!
Make Up Tips
A great, easy exfoliating treatment is to use a little organic honey and a little sugar mixed together. The honey will moisturize your face while the sugars natural acids gently exfoliate without creating microscopic tears in your delicate skin.

Drink plenty of water through the day, not merely to replenish humidity lost to the heat and panic but also to help blush toxins out of the body and keep skin looking apparent and glossy.
Use these hints and you will be amazed at how delicate, smooth, and healthy your skin will feel. Stay tuned, as I will return with more alternative beauty secrets - next time, special summer hair and face needs.

Saying skin cancer is not caused by UV light from the sun is akin to claiming lung cancer has no causal link with smoking. I can’t believe the webmaster has even let this article be published; it’s not just idiocy, it’s plain negligent and irresponsible.
Dear C. Pelkas,
Unfortunately, so-called “common knowledge” sometimes has nothing to do with the real situation and is not bolstered by truthful scientific research, but rather, by the corporations aggressively pushing consumers to buy their products (in this case - sunscreen products). There is a whole range of serious scientific research that DO NOT link a potentially lethal form of skin cancer, which is melanoma, to the sun exposure. Moreover, there is a link between an elevated incidence of melanoma and a REDUCED sun exposure. You can find a truthful and comprehensive information about the subject in, for example, the article of William Campbell Douglass, MD, titled “Sunlight and Melanoma - the Surprising Connection”. It is very unfortunate that majority of information that common people can find in mass media, especially concerning healthy nutrition and other health-related issues, is often both misleading and potentially dangerous.
Dear Ms. Brown,
An article published on a non-peer reviewed website! I am humbled by the credibility of your source. Find us something in Nature or The Lancet to bolster this ridiculous claim. (See ‘Efficacy of sunscreens in protection against skin cancer’ David Hill, The Lancet Volume 354, Issue 9180, 28 August 1999, Pages 699-700 as rebuttal; UV light found in sunlight is linked to skin cancer. This is not mass media, this is one of the most respected scientific journals in current publication.)
Peer review and reproducibility of results makes for good science. Random articles found via a Google search most certainly does not.
Please edit or remove this article. You are giving negligent and misleading advice in order to hawk ‘natural remedies’.
Might I also add that your source, William Campbell Douglass, MD, has confused non-Hodgkins lymphoma (an haematopoietic cancer) and melanoma. The article he cites is no authority for your proposition.
In fact, later articles quoting his initial article reaffirm that there is a casual link between melanoma and UV light. (See Bruce K. Armstrong and Anne Kricker ‘Sun Exposure and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma’ Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention 16, 396-400, March 1, 2007.)
The mass media information in this case is supported by scientific evidence that is being misleadingly and/or erroneously understood.
Dear C.Pelkas,
You certainly have a right to express your point of view. Thank you for publishing your expert opinion on our website. I am sure that, upon getting acquainted with the scientific debate about the subject, our fabulous readers will decide themselves where the truth is.
Great tips! Thank you very much!
Amanda,
I find all your articles informative. Thanks!
sugar and oil are also good home made body scrubs. I have tried and I love the results.
Thankyou for quoting my article and your readers may well benefit from reading
the full story on my site.
Too much exposure to the sun is certainly dangerous but the toxic ingredients in many sunscreens and lotions are equally as bad.
Your skin will absorb 60% of whatever you put on it and unless you learn to read the labels and recognise what exactly is in the products you may well find yourself literally “dying” to be beautiful.
There is an awful lot of hype in the beauty industry, which is in the main, profit orientated. Many synthetic ingredients are known to have health issues and yet poor regulation permits their use.
One good piece of advice is - If you can’t pronounce it, don’t use it!
Midday, when the sun’s rays are strongest, babies and children should stay indoors, or out of the sun at least. Even on cloudy, hazy days, protect against the sun.
Exfoliation, important in warmer weather when you’re revealing more skin, can easily be overdone, so proceed with caution.
Eat Pitta-balancing fruits, vegetables and herbs, which supply the skin with essential nutrients and come with free-radical fighting antioxidant properties while they help keep your skin cool. These steps helps in taking care of your skin and thus prevent any diseases. skin-disease.org
