Page Six says it has obtained an audio tape of "American Idol's" Paula Abdul, apparently, having a meltdown during a conference call with a group of publicists last week. In the tape, Paula alledgedly trashes her former rep., Howard Bragman. Also on the tape, she discusses her medical problems and says she has had enough of the bad treatment from "people who are supposed to be taking care of things."
Abdul is heard on the tape saying, "I've never been treated this way and I've never seen anybody treated this way. This is just too much to stomach." Abdul is told by the other parties to the conference call, "You will be treated better starting right now." According to Abdul, she was not treated well by the former publicist: "I do a call-in every week for OK! Magazine on 'American Idol.' Because of my brilliant job, they want to do a cover on me. I'm being told by Howard Bragman that I'm too old and no one will ever want to do a cover. I'm being tested. All I've ever wanted in my life is to be treated fairly and be treated with kindness. And I've never in my entire career been treated this way. The people who are supposed to take care of these things do not. I have to clean up after them everywhere they go. And I'm tired of it."
She then goes on to say, "Howard Bragman on Monday - he did some disgusting behavior. I had to go to Jimmy Kimmel with no publicist there. [Abdul appeared on Kimmel's show on May 15.] I go on with no publicist there and I pay this man . . .
Abdul then, amazingly, states: "I don't understand how this man can call me a whining bitch. I've never in my life been called a whining bitch and a loser."
When asked to comment on why he no longer works for Paula Abdul, Howard Bragman said, "I'm not going into it," and added, "I'll stand by my reputation if she'll stand by hers."
Wow, I can't wait to hear Paula spin this one! Only recently she said she had never had a drink in her life, and broke her nose tripping over her dog (when it was learned she threw a glass against a wall and shards cut her face). As her former flame, Arsenio Hall once said, "Things that make you go....Hmmmmm."
