Is Lindsay Lohanâs mother a stage mom or a shrewd manager? In the April issue of Harperâs Bazaar, Dina Lohan responds to mounting criticism that sheâs enabling her daughterâs party lifestyle.
The magazine doesnât hit newsstands stands until March 27, but Usmagazine.com has a preview of the interview in which Dina, 44, sounds off on Paris, Britney, Brandon Davis and why she goes clubbing with her daughter.
**On Lindsay Lohanâs rehab: **
âLindsay had to fall and get up. I knew it was coming. I told her, but finally she was like, âMommy, I had to do it myself.â You can lead a horse to water. You canât make him drink.â
**On Paris Hilton: **
âSome of these kids are just lost.Paris Hiltonâs mom was wonderfully embracing to me. You know, you canât blame parents for kids, and Paris is a really smart girl, and sheâs come really far. Theyâre the American dream. Theyâre the Trumps of the little world, these kids. Lindsay at 26 is not going to clubs! Sheâs not. Itâs just not happening.â
**On Brandon Davis: **
âI know Brandon. I know his mother. A beautiful woman. You know, if her son went off and went dark? Whatever he did, he did, and it was bad and it was disgusting. He doesnât have a dad who was always there. I donât judge someone until I walk in his shoes.â
**On Britney Spears: **
âI donât know her mom. But I love this kid, and I feel so badly for her because Iâm a mom. The girl is a beautiful kid. She married some guy just to get out of the limelight. Cut her some slack. Her mother, Iâm surprised she didnât come forward. Iâm not gonna sit back and go, Youâre gonna trash my kid? If my daughter was in high school, I would be at the principalâs office. Hello?â
**On going out with Lindsay: **
âListen to me: Lindsay would drag me, literally drag my loser butt there and say, âI need you to know who these people are.â Yeah, she trusts my judgment. Sheâs in such a whirlwind; sheâs in a tornado. I mean, weâre talking serious earthquake, you know?âŚOh, the party mom, the party mom, the party mom! Whoever said that, my ex-husband or whatever, Iâm not the party mom! You throw enough pasta on the walls, some pastaâs going to stick, okay?â
**On the paparazzi: **
âLook at me. Diana will happen again.â
**On her family: **
âWeâre just so misunderstood. My sons are in sports; my daughters want to be actors. I was in the business, and Iâm going to help them. You donât like that? Iâm living the American dream.â
