Funerals

An extremely rare addiction is one to funerals; a name has not even been coined for this yet and is normally just simply referred to as funeral addiction. This name is fairly self explanatory, this is where you constantly have to keep going to funerals on a regular basis and in some cases this is several times a day. In my opinion this is quite a sweet addiction as you are paying your respects to those that have lost but unfortunately it can still ruin your life.
Heavy Metal

Apparently this is an extremely rare addiction that has only just recently been recognised by psychologists. Due to this addiction a man was unable to leave his home or to be away from heavy metal music and is actually receiving disability allowances to help him out financially.

Cosmetic Surgery

There are so many cases where people, including celebrities, can not stop having cosmetic surgery. They constantly have larger breasts implanted or facial work done, so much so that the person becomes completely unrecognisable. In some cases the cosmetic surgery can make the person look hideous and yet they carry on with more.
Sex

Now to many people this may sound harmless and in some ways very fun. However, an addiction to sex can severely ruin people’s lives because even if they are married their needs are often not satisfied and they go out seeking sex with other people. This form of addiction can ruin families and in a lot of cases the person suffering from the addiction does not want this to happen but feel they can not help it.
Pagophagia

The name gives nothing away, other than maybe sounding a bit terrifying like a phobia to some form of insect. Well Pagophagia is actually an addiction to sucking ice or drinking ice drinks on a regular basis. The occasional iced beverage can be nice and refreshing but on a regular basis it can cause more harm to your body than good, plus it can crack your teeth.

In modern society there is so much pressure placed on having perfect straight and white teeth without any gaps between them. As a result of this pressure some people become addicted to whitening their teeth. In some cases repetitive tooth whitening may not be good for your body.
Tanorexia

This is where a person is addicted to tanning themselves, to the extent that they never slightly loose their tan. Some people have to go to a tanning booth every day to make sure that their tan is constantly topped up. The reasoning behind this name is that it is thought that this addiction has similarities to other body image disorders, namely anorexia.
There you have 7 strangest addictions. The chances are that some of these addictions you have never heard of and to tell you the truth they make me feel a lot better and more at ease over my mild case of agoraphobia.
