Each of the games listed below are fairly simple and they don’t require a lot of time to play. If you only have a few minutes, then most of these games are a perfect way to pass the time. Even if you have an hour or two, I don’t think any of the games below would get boring, Strands NYT has been my personal favorite lately. With an hour to spare, you might be able to squeeze in a few rounds from a couple of the games mentioned below. If you are looking for something to do, then why not choose something from this list of the best 8 online games to pass time. You just might get addicted though, so be careful!
If you’re looking for something a bit gruesome, then you might want to try this game. You are a giant worm underground and the object of the game is to bolt to the surface and eat whatever is passing by; human, dog, cow, etc. Even jets are made to be eaten. The point of the game is to eat until you grow and thus advance through the levels. The more you eat, the faster you grow. I found that the hardest part of this game is to get the hang of using the A, S, D, and W keys to maneuver the worm through the ground.
I don’t know if you’re even familiar with Bubble Spinner, but the second version isn’t much different. You are given a group of bubbles that you have to demolish. The bubble at the top of the page can be directed towards the group of colored bubbles below. You have to aim directly at a cluster of bubbles of the same color as the one being shot or bounce it off the wall. Once you match up at least 3 bubbles of the same color, they pop, thus throwing the cluster off balance. Oh, and the mass of bubbles spins as it is thrown off balance.
The mouse is used to collect colors with gravity. You advance through each level by clearing the previous level of its color. There is a blue and a red zone in each level, designated by blue or red objects. The objects that are red or blue are the only things that are able to be moved. The red item has to be moved toward the red side and the blue one towards the blue side. Setting the cursor near a colored object and then clicking the mouse will send the object moving. You have to try to get the objects to their correct color side in as few of clicks as possible. There are 35 levels.
If you like shooting games, but don’t want to put a lot of thought into it, then this is the game for you. There isn’t a lot of strategy, blood, or gore involved in playing Spite Cannon. All you have to do is shoot blocks until they fall off of the hovering platform they are perched upon. The blocks are all purple and have smiles on the front of them until you start shooting, then they turn into the face that Mr. Bill used to make before he was ran over by the steam roller on SNL. It’s an easy game and fun too.
You’re a little stick figure running through the city and trying to jump over buildings in just one leap. Sounds easy, right? Not really. The left arrow allows you to make big jumps and the right arrow small ones, but you won’t know if you’re able to clear the building until you try. FYI: even though you’re a stick figure, you bleed in this game! Oh yeah, and watch out for the hobo pushing the grocery cart. You have to make sure to clear him as well; otherwise you both end up bleeding.
This game is a series of seemingly easy tasks that you perform with a click of the mouse. You might have to organize animals from largest to smallest, type in a series of numbers in the correct order, or click on the appropriate arrows shown in the box to the right of the tower. There is a command to the right of the tower to explain what you need to do to move on to the next level, but there is also a green line on the left side of the tower that is rapidly going down. If you take too long, the boxes on the tower turn red. If you answer incorrectly, the boxes on the tower turn red. So, answer correctly and do it quick to keep making your way up the tower. You’ll be surprised at how many easy tasks you can’t complete. I was!
This is a simple game of matching, but it is timed. There are many, many versions of this game online. Some have soothing music you can listen to while you play. A few varieties allow you to adjust the way the tiles are set up, just to mix things up a bit. I don’t care how the tiles are arranged. I could play this game for hours on end. I like trying to shorten the amount of time it takes me to clear a board. So far 3 minutes is my top speed. I love this game!
I can play this game for hours, whether it’s the original version, the second version, or the blitz version. They are all excellent fun. The object is to match like colored jewels so that they disappear. However, to get them to disappear there has to be three in a row of the same color. You can swap nearby jewels in order to complete a row of three or more, but this entire process is timed. If you don’t like timed games, then this one will drive you crazy. It’s loads of fun though!
There are tons of quirky online games, but I think the best 8 online games to pass time are mentioned in this list. None of them require a lot of time to complete. They also don’t take a lot of brain power to figure out, which I like best of all. Sometimes a mindless game is just what I need to take my mind off of things. What is your favorite online game that you like to play?
