This spring and summer season, it seems like the fashion gods are smiling upon us, introducing so many fab new trends I can hardly keep up, and I love them all! I’m hoping they’ll be around for at least a few more seasons to come, but for now, here are 7 spring 2012 trends I love!
1 Nifty Neutrals
** This spring/summer 2012 trend is a hold-over from a few seasons ago, when khaki was king. Neutrals are still wildly popular, especially when worn as monochrome. This dress is an ideal way to wear the trend, paired with wedges (see below!) and a delicate necklace and bracelets.
2 Wonderful White
** White is by far the hottest color of the season, the brighter, the better! It’s easy to wear, too, since it matches almost any other color and sets off every skin tone! I especially adore gauzy whites, but this tee, with its gorgeous neckline, is my absolute fave white piece!
3 Wicked Wedges
** If you only buy one pair of shoes this spring/summer 2012 season, it has to be a wedge! They’re uber-hot, totally on-trend, and they’re showing up everywhere! They look amazing with everything from cropped pants and a tunic to maxi dresses to rompers, and everything in between.
4 Marvelous Maxis
** I have a closet full of maxi dresses I love, so I’m so happy this trend is still hot! Maxi dresses have now been joined by a new maxi trend, too — the maxi skirt — so suddenly my whole wardrobe is long and flowing or long and lean… add jewelry and wedges, and bring a cardi along, and your summer dressing is complete!
5 Cool Crops
** Last summer, looser fitting, oversized shirts that bared one or both shoulders were all the rage. This summer? It's all about crop tops! With the weather warming up, it pays to be a little more daring -- you'll stay cool but you'll look hot! There are a variety of styles, from bold, belly-baring bandeau tops to edgy, teasing pieces that reveal a little midriff. Strapless or sleeveless crop tops look fantastic with a long maxi skirt, especially if you're going for a laid back, Boho chic appeal.
6 Beautiful Botanicals
** Floral prints are hot, but botanical prints are even hotter! Don’t go for the tiny vintage-inspired print, go bold, big, and beautiful, the lusher, the better! This vest is a great example of how to wear the trend, but it’s tame compared to some of the hot-house botanical varieties out there!
** By now we all know that we need to be gentle with our earth, and strive for sustainability in every aspect of our lives, including fashion. Most designers now have eco-friendly lines, like this tee by Des Artiste. Check labels and collections to see which products are organic and sustainable, and flaunt some eco-chic this season!
Eek! So many trends! Which of these spring 2012 fashion trends do you like best, my fashionista friend? Or is there another one I didn’t include that you adore more? Do tell!
