Michael Kors Fall 2007 ...
By Bag

Plenty of designers showing in New York exemplify the American aesthetic, but few, in my opinion, do it as well as Michael Kors. I think I've watched his show on Full Frontal Fashion maybe 25 times. His designs are so rich, and sumptuous...it made me wish television was "touchavision". He is as good with accessories as with clothing, and one bag after another was a big WOW!

This satchel with a giant gold tone buckle was the predominant look, and the bag that is sure to be the signature bag of his Fall 2007 collection. Though it is a satchel, he sent it down the runway many times carried clutch style, with the handle dangling in a "devil may care" fashion.

It appeared in many shades of taupe and brown, as well as what looked like a cracked patent leather, and in a softer leather with a horizontal belt replacing the pilgrim buckle.

There were colors too, a mustard yellow (still hate the color), and pumpkin done in exotic skins. These also appear to be a bit smaller, adhering to the direction bag size is obviously taking (I'm calling it backlash to backache)

Along with the yellows and oranges, there were shocks of electric blue...another hearkening to the Dynasty 90s, but a shade far more wearable than mustard. Here, is the blue in the season's #1 bag trend, a small clutch, in croc. The exotic skin clutch appeared in an envelope style as well.

The buckle design also appeared on a clutch, making it look like an over sized wallet, in a patent black, I love it!

Over sized bags were not totally absent either. The overnight duffel appeared in several fabrications from leopard, to crackled leather with tan trim, a color combination extremely evocative of Louis Vuitton.

Acknowledging the unisex nature of an overnight duffel, he sent a squarer version down the catwalk with the guys. I thought doing it in patent was brilliant...why can't the men have some flash too?
