Why Bob Gentry Is the Underrated Singer-Songwriter You Need to Hear

If you have been following along here for a while, you already know I can never say enough good things about the talented musician Bob Gentry. I certainly try to highlight his work whenever I can, especially when celebrating authentic artists who bring passion to their craft.

I initially started out simply as a fan of his music, but over time, I am so grateful to count him as a genuine friend. His relentless hard work, warmth, and dedication to not just music, but also blogging and supporting his friends make him a truly outstanding person. When things felt overwhelming and went wonky for me last month, he was one of the very first in line to check in and make sure I was okay. Like I said before, I really cannot say enough about his kindness.

Bob impressively made it into the top 5 of the national StarTomorrow competition. Although another contestant officially took top honors in the final round, Bob came away as a massive winner in his own right. He secured a prestigious endorsement deal with Yamaha and reached a huge nationwide audience through his powerful performances. If you love discovering indie artists you should be listening to, his trajectory is proof of what genuine talent can achieve. Hopefully, a major recording contract is waiting just around the corner for Bob because he truly deserves all the success coming his way.

Tomorrow night, Bob is officially receiving the award for Rock Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year at the LA Music Awards. I would have loved to be there in person to celebrate with him, congratulate him, and give him a big hug to thank him for everything he has done for me. However, with everything going on right now, traveling just is not possible.

So I hope I am not embarrassing Bob too much by writing this public tribute! I simply wanted to share how deeply proud I am of his achievements, how much I adore his music, and how immensely grateful I am for his support. If you are curating playlists of songs to get you in the mood for great live rock, his catalog is an absolute must-listen.

I also want to give a special shoutout and thank Dice for sharing this video on YouTube so I could share it with all of you. Finding lesser-known singers you need to check out is always exciting, and Bob Gentry stands out at the top of that list.

Bob... You Rock! Huge congratulations on this well-deserved award!
