God I love my job. Truly I do!
I sometimes have to sit back and think exactly what about it that I love so much.
Take yesterday's photo shoot.
Model was late (her agent gave wrong location, ah, we're in Brooklyn shooting, not Manhattan), she was cold, allergy sniffling, and just all around not happy to be there. After awhile she saw what we wanted to create on this photo shoot and she turned into a real trouper. Well, if Harper's Bazaar used her in their April issue, well, you can see why she's such a pro.

Is what we do glamorous? Well, you be the judge. We're shooting on a rooftop in Brooklyn overlooking the skyline of Manhattan. And it's a rooftop with pigeon cages, and pigeon feathers and you know what all over the place. And it's cold. Windy, chilling cold.
We have 8 looks we're shooting, which takes hours. People think the job is exciting. Well, the job itself usually isn't. You're too cold, too hot, in weird conditions. People watching, gawking. Harrassing. And that's just the model.
And yeah, I try to look hip and happening on a photo shoot, but that usually doesn't last too long, because soon my hands are filled with hairspray (why? spray on your fingers to smooth hair, not directly or you just may get hairspray in the models eyes when it's windy. Not good!) and makeup all over my clothes...
But I still love my job. Why? I'm creating art (or at least trying to!) It's the makeup application that makes me happy, but ultimately it's the final photo that makes my soul soar. And hopefully, that final image will be something you look at and go, " wow! I wish I looked like that!"
God I love my job.
P.S. See that can of hairspray sticking out of my pocket? Amazing product review coming up! A last minute hair spray purchase that turns out to be amazing! Stay tuned!
