Apple’s lawyers have their job cut out for them in the coming months. They say that imitation is the best form of flattery, but the iPhone hasn’t even been released yet and imitators are cropping up everywhere. After Apple’s iPhone announcement, other large-scale cell phone manufacturers have started to reveal their own versions of multimedia phones. First, LG Electronics teamed up with fashion powerhouse PRADA (to deviate a little bit from the topic - we have to mention that Motorola has started it by creating Razr V3 Dolce & Gabana) to reveal a masterpiece called LG PRADA Phone. Now, it seems the ASUSTek is joining the race as well.
Unfortunately, the phone codename “Aura” still only exists as conceptual prototype that still has a long way to go before going retail. The rich functionality and original design, however, make us think that the phone will be immensely popular and will be able to compete successfully with Apple iPhone and LG PRADA Phone. The extendable keyboard, along with an almost 4-inch sensor display promises good usability. And it also comes with an abundance of external connectivity (SD-card reader, mini-USB hub, Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi) that will guarantee users a wide array of accessories, and software and games. Also, it’s omnipotent standards’ support (GSM, HSDPA) guarantees interoperability with most carriers and they will also throw in a 2-MP digital camera. Supposedly, the phone will become available in 3rd quarter and the price isn’t yet known.
