As New York fashion week continues to roll out with beautiful thousand dollar dresses making their debuts on the runway, The Budget Fashionista Party I attended on Tuesday evening was a breath of fresh air… not to mention reality. The party was held in conjunction with the non profit organization, Housing Works, which provides services to Homeless New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS.
The Budget Fashionista Web site was created by Kathryn Finney – a woman dedicated to helping other woman find, create, and maintain fabulous looks for dare I say it?? Less money!
Amongst the guests were Steve Kemble (America’s Sassiest Lifestyle Guru) and Carson Kressley (Lifetime’s How to Look Good Naked) who both agreed the easiest way to stay fashionable on a budget is to dress up the basics with accessories. This fall’s must have accessories, according to Kemble, are scarves and funky hats, hats, hats! If you want to find one piece that stands out, find your two or three favorite stores and get on their mailing list to be the first to know about sales and other seasonal deals. Kressleys’s tips for looking good on a budget include finding things that fit your body and trying to have fun with it. “Fall is about back to basics, kind of like going back to school… without the school girl uniform.”
The party was complete with mini burgers, free massages, DJs, and of course gift bags!
