In Prague yesterday morning as I arrived at the only H&M that had the Roberto Cavalli collection I was told that it was all gone.
"Gone?" I said, "but it is only 9.50am", 20 mins after the store had opened. I was informed that it was all gone after 5 mins as I damned myself and my inability to have awoken early on this special day.
I did manage to find some remains of the carnage in the dress rooms, nothing in my size of course with my luck, but I tried a few on just for fun. What I found was this range was very well made, unlike the Madonna collection.
At H&M’s flagship store on London’s Oxford Street, fans queued from 5am. And within an hour of the doors opening many items had sold out.
The man himself was at the New York launch on Fifth Avenue as hoards of fans snaked the block.
Cavalli answered questions from reporters and posed for photos as campaign model Jessica Stam did her model thing, wearing a leopard print dress from the collection.
I was very keen to get my hands on this collection, but even if I had been in London I would not have queued from 5am.
Looking on Ebay now 444 items of the collection are already on the site, so all is not lost.
