PRODUCT REVIEW: Estee Lauder Perfectionist PeelPRODUCT REVIEW: Estee Lauder's Perfectionist Peel

This past week has definitely been a week of relaxation and what I call, my mini makeover week. What better time to do a little rejuvenation when you finally get a little free time. So off I start with Phase I. The face.

Enter, Estee Lauder's Perfectionist Peel. I got this a while back and haven't had the time to try it, and boy, I sure wish I tried it out sooner. My thin and sensitive skin takes a lot to really notice any results from any type of skin care, mask or anti aging product. I tend to notice side effects more than benefits most of the time. But not with this.

This 2 step peel is amazing. Meant to be used once a week, Step 1 is a thick, milky cream ( the Thermal Facial Peel) that you apply to freshly washed, damp skin. You leave on for 15 minutes, and as directions say, it gets warm on the skin. Well, the first time I used this, I really didn't feel much of any warmth. What I did wrong was apply to clean skin that was blotted with a towel, and then applied. Though I did get results, it didn't seem to go according to directions. The cream seems to 'activate' when the skin is wet. So, a week later, on attempt #2, I apply to a very wet face and viola. This cream gets very warm. As it soaks up the water into the cream, the warm feeling goes away. Don't worry, it's not a hot or a burning sensation, but it's definitely different. Let's say, it feels like a very warm sauna, that disappears in about 1 minute. Step 1, apply and leave on for 15 minutes. During the 15 minutes, the cream tightens a bit, but doesn't give that tight, cracking feeling at all. The cream feels like a cream that's dried a bit. Now on to Stage 2.

Stage 2 is the removal of the cream, with the Calming Neutralizer pads. It takes about 2 pads to remove the cream entirely, and the pads are abrasive enough to make you think you're removing all the little dead skin cells that have been miraculously loosened thanks to Step 1. After the cream is removed, then you rinse with warm water.

The amazing part is, though my skin is a bit pink at this point (mostly from the slightly abrasive pads) and starting to feel a bit of a sting (from the peel), my skin feels amazing. Like I just put on Smashbox's Photo Finish primer. You know that feeling. Like velvet. I then put on the new Collagen Face Cream by La Bella (with Alpha Lipolic Acid, DMAE & Vitamin C) and it literally disappears into my skin. Like my skin is absorbing the first sign of moisture it can get. My skin feels amazing.

Just to note, the stinging feeling tends to prickle and sting a bit, but dies down after about 30 minutes. The next morning, my skin looks clearer, lighter, softer, all those verbs that you hear in a skin infomercial. A definite must have product that works wonders.

THE POWER OF PEELS
You are born with smooth, perfect skin. But as you get older, skin's ability to renew itself begins to slow down dramatically.

- Gradually, the fine, even texture becomes rough and uneven as skin is less able to shed dull, dead cells and regenerate new ones.

- The result? Skin looks lifeless. Lines, wrinkles and age spots look more visible. Your skin needs a jump start.

While scrubs and masks do a good job of smoothing the surface of the skin, Glycolic Acid peels—now a standard procedure in the dermatologist's office—offer the true revolution in skin re-smoothing.

A single treatment can clear away dead surface cells, unstop clogged pores and leave skin looking dramatically more radiant, fresher and smoother.

THE POWER OF PERFECTIONIST
Now, with just one treatment with Perfectionist Peel, you can achieve the same instant results as a professional 30% Glycolic Acid peel—in the privacy and convenience of your own home.
