I Tested Clinique's Pink Chocolates Collection So You Don't Have To
By Beauty • Nov 7, 2006 MD

The holiday season is the perfect time to experiment with soft, glowing makeup looks that transition effortlessly from day to night. If you're looking for that perfect winter radiance, Clinique's classic Pink Chocolates collection remains a timeless inspiration for effortless beauty.

A while back I gave you a sneak peek at one of the items from Clinique's beautiful holiday collection, Pink Chocolates. Now, the collection is finally available, which means that you can purchase this little gem: the Shimmering Tones Powder in limited edition Pink Chocolates.

The photo does not do it any amount of justice. It is exquisite. In fact, it's my absolute favorite item from the collection, and I've been using it every day since I acquired it. This translucent pink compact is a shimmery checkerboard of pinks and browns, and works in many lovely ways. It's a versatile addition to any modern makeup routine.

| Shade Color | Best Used For | Final Effect | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Pale Pink | Browbones & inner corners | Brightening highlight | | Coppery Pink Taupe | Base eyeshadow | Warm, subtle depth | | Dark Cocoa | Eyeliner (applied wet) | Soft, defined eyes |

Swirled together, it makes a great highlighter for cheekbones, or all over the face. When I'm wearing an otherwise matte face, I even use it as a blush. Note: even with all the swirling, the pretty checkerboard pattern has remained intact! The pale pink is a perfect highlighter for browbones and inner corners, the coppery pink taupe is a great base eyeshadow, and the darker cocoa color looks so pretty applied wet as a liner. Finding the right eyeshadow palette can truly be a game-changer for your holiday look.

The colors work together beautifully and I imagine they would look equally fabulous on a variety of skin tones. In fact, I am so sure of this that I'm buying this compact, along with the matching pink-handled Bronzer/Blender brush, for all my friends and family for the holidays, if they don't sell out first!

Ways to Use Pink Chocolates

  • Highlighter: Swirl all colors together for a radiant glow on cheekbones.
  • Eyeshadow: Use the pale pink for browbones and the taupe as a base.
  • Eyeliner: Apply the dark cocoa shade wet for a defined, soft liner look.
