Usually everybody stashes away their sequins and lurex knits after Christmas but this year metallics are going to be worn well into summer. The key for wearing summer metallics is to wear one item of metallic and then tone it down with dove greys, taupes and beiges. There are lots of subtle lurex knits about at the moment and they're a great way of incorporating metal shades into your wardrobe. For the shimmer-shy wear Accessorize's gold and silver earrings with a grey top. See after the jump for product details and full-size picture.
The subtle gold colour of the Oasis lurex vest is very skin-enhancing and will look great with a tan. If you didn't get a gold shift first time round Dorothy Perkins have gold sequinned dresses in black, plum, gold and silver (pictured). Day Birger et Mikkelsen's vest balances out glitzy sequins with chiffon. Dorothy Perkins' again, this time with a flattering billowy silver top which would look great with white Liz Hurley style jeans. Finally Miss Selfridge's sheeny knit dress is the most subtle of all my metallic picks, with just the merest pearlescent shine. An option for those strapped of cash, go to your local haberdashers and pick up some sequin trim, wear around your head, your waist or sew to the straps of a vest.Lurex dress, Miss Selfridge: £35.
