Charlotte Church is refusing to reveal the name of her newborn daughter.
The 21-year-old singer - who gave birth to the 6lb 10oz baby girl, her first child with her rugby star boyfriend Gavin Henson, on Thursday (20.09.07) - is keeping quiet about what the new arrival will be called.
Friends say Charlotte will give her daughter the middle name Maria in honour of her mother and grandmother who share the moniker. Maria is also the Welsh star’s middle name.
Charlotte and Gavin - who were both said to be “emotional” during the water birth at the couple’s home in Wales - announced the happy news on Charlotte’s official website.
The posting read: “Gavin has informed us that Charlotte gave birth to a beautiful baby girl at home on Thursday night. Mother and baby are doing fine.”
Charlotte’s grandparents, George and Maria Cooper, have visited the new baby, and Maria gushed: “She is my first great-grandchild and she is beautiful. Charlotte and Gavin are tired but doing fine.”
Charlotte - who gave up drinking and smoking as soon as she found out she was pregnant - reportedly wanted the baby to be a boy because she would worry about a daughter too much.
A source said: “Charlotte is telling people, ‘I hope I have a boy - girls are too much trouble.’”
“After all she’s been through, she knows better than anyone.”
