Having recently relocated to UK shores from Berlin and taken residence in a deserted warehouse in the London’s east end, Charlie is to hairdressing what Gaultier is to fashion.

I met him at the über trendy Tatty Devine Customer Club launch party a few weeks ago where he had set up shop and was cutting hair for free. I waited and waited but the queue was so long I eventually had to leave to catch the last tube home. I was told to meet him at his next pop-up salon event, but at a charge of £150 an hour, I thought it best to just leave my hair long.
