Music is such a big part of my life. It has gotten me through the worst times of my life. It has also highlighted the best times of my life. I like a variety of music – different genres, themes, bands, and underlying messages. However, the songs that seem stick to me the most are those that give me a bittersweet feeling. If you care to take a listen, here are some of those songs.
And who knows of her thoughts and her dreams,
And ideas she's got and contains inside,
She's so broken apart
And her heart is still looking for some way to feel alright
You're the echoes of my everything,
You're the emptiness the whole world sings at night.
You're the laziness of afternoon,
You're the reason why I burst and why I bloom.
You're the leaky sink of sentiment,
You're the failed attempts I never could forget.
You're the metaphors I can't create to comprehend this curse that I call love…
Build up your confidence
So you can be on top for once
Wake up who cares about
Little boys that talk too much
It's just me and you and you and me
so wild eyed, so young, bright eyed and free
And we're trying to get out of here
and a small town romance draws ever near
And I swear we're in a movie
the highlight comes when you kiss me
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Do you do you like dreaming of things
so impossible or only the practical
or ever the wild
or waiting through all your bad bad days
just to end them with
someone you care about
and do you like making out
and long drives and brown eyes
and guys that just
don't quite fit in?
Yeah do you like them?
If this is
Good bye to you and me
what a good friend you've been to me
and I owe it all to you
every good thing that I do is you

So this is the way that I say I need You
This is the way that I'm
Learning to breathe
I'm learning to crawl
I'm finding that You and You alone can break my fall
I'm living again, awake and alive
I'm dying to breathe in these abundant skies

I can't remember the time or place,
or what you were wearing.
It's unclear about how we met,
all I know it was the best conversation that I've ever had.
To this day I never found someone,
with eyes as wide as yours.
I've been searching up and down this coast,
overlooking what I need the most.
The sky will never look the same again,
till you show me how it could be.
So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams are swinging out of the blue
We let 'em come true.
Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never…

I remember when we were driving driving in your car
Speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone
You are my sweetest downfall
I loved you first, I loved you first
Beneath the stars came fallin' on our heads
But they're just old light, they're just old light
Samson by Regina Spektor is a beautiful and poignant song about the bittersweet feeling of love. The song is driven by a melancholic piano melody and Spektor's haunting vocals. The lyrics are filled with imagery of falling stars and old light, creating a dreamy atmosphere. The song has become a fan favorite since its release in 2004 and has been featured in various television shows and films. It is a perfect example of a bittersweet love song that will make you feel all the emotions.
I'll light the fire, you put the flowers in the vase that you bought today.
Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you
Play your love songs all night long for me, only for me.
Our house is a very, very fine house with two cats in the yard, life used to be so hard,
Now everything is easy cause of you
Everyone's got to face down the demons,
Maybe today,
We can put the past away
I wish you would step back from that ledge my friend,
You could cut ties with all the lies, that you've been living in,
And if you do not want to see me again, I would understand.
If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied
Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
He says he's got nothing left to live for
And this time I think you'll know…
You're not alone
There is more to this, I know
You can make it out
You will live to tell
Those are the songs that make me feel happy and sad at the same time. Every time I hear those songs, I can’t help but stop and just give in to the feeling. Now I’m interested to know: what song gives you a bittersweet feeling?
