Carrying a big bag has been a trend that has been around for a while now. Not only is it a trend, it is also very practical to put all your stuff in one bag, instead of 2 or 3, which I have been known to do before.
Peaches and Pixie Geldof took the big bag to another level - Oversize - when they were seen showing off the new Mulberry Roxanne tote, which appears to be half their size at a Mulberry Fashion Party, during London Fashion Week.
We probably carry twice as much in our handbags as our mothers used to. While they may have only carried a purse, a couple of tissues, make-up and a house key, we're are carrying a wallet, diary, address book, make-up bag, bottle of water, bunches of keys, Ipod, mobile phone/blackberry, a change of shoes, a change of clothes and even a laptop, it is no wonder bags are getting bigger.
Samantha at the PursePage.com says:
"For a split second bags seemed to come back down to Earth in terms of size. Then spring rolled around, and everything went back to drama. From YSL's Muse in new shades like a shimmering seafoam and a rich royal blue, to the super oversized plastic studded day clutch called the Fergie from Marc Jacobs, handbags are back to going big. Of course if they get any bigger we'll be forced to check them at the airport."
