Over on Luxist, I have been recently posting about carbon neutral flying(taking part in a carbon offset program to reduce your impact on the environment) but I never expected that a cosmetics company would be making such an effort. Fashion Week Dailyhas reported that Lancôme recently announced a variety of 2007 Eco-Chic initiatives at a recent event to launch their Primordiale Cell Defense, which is another product that promises to neutralize the effect of damaging free radicals on the skin. Lancรดme's environmental initiatives include a partnership with Carbonfund.org, a nonprofit organization which helps people and companies reduce their climate impact. The company's spokesmodels will be flying carbon free and Lancรดme will plant one tree for each of the first 10,000 bottles of Cell Defense sold. The press launch of Cell Defense will also be paperless. No press kits will be sent. Instead there will be a password-protected web site for editors and producers to download press releases and images. It's nice to see companies taking the eco issue from a variety of angles whether it is in their products such as H&M's organic cotton clothes or in their business practices.
