H&Ms the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Collection: Fab or Drab?...

H&Ms the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Collection: Fab or Drab?...
By Sheila

When it comes to chic, pocket-friendly clothes, H&M rarely disappoints. Ditto when it comes to H&M collaborations and that brings me to their recent most "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" collection which I can't quite make up my mind about and here's why.

Firstly, the idea itself of a collection dedicated to "the girl with the dragon tattoo" aka Lisbeth Salander seems a bit off to me. Yes, she's a kick-ass character and I love her but her style from what I've read in the books is just regular clothes with a lot of black right? Does she really deserve an entire collection? I'm not sure. The 30-piece collection is designed by Trish Summerville and consists mostly of leather pants, ripped tees, distressed blanket cardigans, a muted urban color palette and punky accessories. There are some decent pieces like:

And then there are some pieces that just leave me speechless for all the wrong reasons:

I could pick these pieces up anywhere and I really don't see the point of it. God knows I love H&M but I just expect more from the brand that gave us affordable Lanvin and Versace, know what I mean? Anyway, this collection will be available in stores starting December 14th. Will you be there? Vote below!

Personally, I love this collection. Perhaps I like it because of the novels and film, or perhaps it is because my wardrobe predominately consists of noir clothes (I just look better in darker clothes- it makes my skin look like porcelain and my blue eyes stand out more). This collection is more artistic than grunge and gives a fashion forward edge to any outfit. I especially love the leather jacket and t- shirt, but there are many unique pieces. As well, this collection is not for everyone, but for those that do like it should thrive in these and love them forever.

I don't think I would ever buy any but they do seem like something Lisbeth would wear. Although prob not from a place like H&M. I think the US version is going to suck hard, but I hope it doesn't!!!!

i think it takes a certain kind of person to pull these off... i love 'em anyway :)

I would DEFINITELY wear the skirt!!

I think this is a terrible collection :( I don't see why anyone would pay for ripped clothing. i despise the 'grunge' look

The books are absolutely amazing!!! I would buy some items but I'm wondering where can i get them?
