Could the BAFTA Awards Be the Savour of Awards Season?

With the Golden Globes cancelled and the Oscars looking shakey, it looks like the best chance we will have for a major red carpet awards event in February is the BAFTA (British Academy Film & Television Arts).

Lauren Goldstein Crowe found an article in the First Post giving hope to the BAFTA's to finally have more bone-a-fide stars at this event which takes place on 10 February. Usually the American stars not attend this event and the winners usually send an acceptance speech via satellite.

So it looks like all those Golden Globe dresses will have to find a event to be seen at after all.

In the leading actress category the nominees are:
Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth: The Golden Age). How will Cate dress that bump?

Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose). Marion has started to make big waves on the red carpet recently, with Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Nina Ricci. Keira Knightley (Atonement). It has to be Chanel really. But Rodarte could get a look in.

Other nominees in this category are Julie Christie (Away From Her) and Ellen Page (Juno).

The person I will be most excited about seeing on the red carpet for this event is Sienna Miller, who is nominated in the Rising Star Award (despite being around for what seems like an age). Sienna never follows any rules, nor does she have an affiliation with any designer. I would not be surprised if she arrived wearing a fantastic vintage piece.

Here is the full list of nominees.
