I'm not going to lie to you, since cutting my hair into what was quite obviously a Pob (now grown into a full bob) along with my tendency to wear trench coats and berets, at the moment I could very well be channelling Faye Dunaway when she was in Bonnie and Clyde (1967).
The beautiful actress became an inspiration, not only because it was one of the first times a strong woman was depicted in a film, but also for her tailored style. Designed by Theodora Van Ruckle, the "gun-moll" look as it was referred to helped to bring the fashions of the 1930s back including knitted sweaters, long pleated skirts, beret caps and thick trench coats. The fashions became so popular that Faye Dunaway even appeared in a Bonnie and Clyde themed photo-shoot for Life Magazine in 1968. Today, the film and the fashions are just as important as ever. The true story of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow will never be forgotten, mostly for the unforgettable performances of Beatty and Dunaway.
