1. Bai Ling

This one was easy, and there is hardly anyone in their right senses who would disagree. It is always hard to predict the hairstyle, hair color and dress (if we can call it that) that Bai Ling will wear to the next red carpet occasion. They all compete to outdo each other in the category of most ‘bizarre’. Awkward and garish wigs, hair streaks of all colors, and garments that leave you gaping in astonishment, we have seen it all. If Bai Ling does have a stylist, I doubt if he/she will ever dare to step out of anonymity. However, I must admit that anticipating Bai Ling at a red carpet event is quite entertaining.

2. Bjork

The Icelandic star is another great candidate for worst dressed celebrities of all time because seems to have used garments for all reasons (including making political statements) other than for looking good. She has turned up in a dress that looked like an expanded snow fluff floating around her waist, and then in one that featured a tribal princess headgear and overcoat, complemented by a tacky green shirt with ancient carvings printed on it. She surely is a dream for entertainment photographers who want to get first page shots.

3. Britney Spears

Britney has had some terrible low moments and even put them behind her, but how can one ever forget the turn of the century fashion crime that she and Justin Timberlake perpetrated on the red carpet? While Britney turned up in a nauseating blue cowboy denim dress, probably converted from a few pairs of jeans, JT decided to literally express the cowboy look, except that he did it in an effeminate, light blue manner. Neither would have got far in the old west, unless they headed straight for the circus.

4. Lil Mama

Can anyone forget the rap star’s MTV Video Music Award 2007 look? She was the Halloween scare queen on a night when Halloween wasn’t intended. That was probably why her sneakers, alien-silver colored ‘little baby’ pram hat and garment, and bizarre lip ring, managed to scare so many away. That one incident will put her on every list of the worst dressed celebrities of all times for all times to come.

5. Cher

Her 1986 look for the Oscars, where she wore a tacky cabaret-style dress and giant porcupine scale hat, led her to being described somewhere as the ‘evil peacock’. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been her only transgression over the decades. We have been exposed to many Cher signature looks, and suffered almost each time.

6. Mickey Rourke

It is odd, sad or funny (whichever way you look at it), that everyone on this list of the worst dressed celebrities of all times, have picked themselves for the list. With Mickey Rourke, it seems like every time he turns up a red carpet occasion, he comes straight from a day full of revelry at a cheap liquor joint. In fact, if your boyfriend is with you on the red carpet, and is anxious about not looking good, try to slot yourself in after Mickey Rourke. It will wipe out your boyfriend’s anxiety, and make him look like the most pleasantly dressed man for the evening, whatever he wears.

7. Elton John

It is only apt to save the best (or the worst, as the case may be) for the last. Elton John has been around the longest, and is the eternal symbol for fashion at its wackiest worst. There is so much wrong with his bizarre eye gear and dressing sense, that I really have nothing to say about it.

The list for the worst dressed celebrities of all times can certainly go on, considering the number of celebrities constantly trying to outdo each other in this department. However, I’m sure neither of us have unlimited appetite for disgust, so my case rests here. Who would you include in this list?
