What is the first idea that comes to your mind when an important company celebration, somebody’s wedding or any other important event is mentioned? Doing something radical and showing up looking fabulous, of course! When it comes to new cosmetic treatments and even non-surgical aesthetic procedures, I have to say that my opinion is pretty liberal. However, proper timing is something I must insist on so here is the list of things that, in my opinion, shouldn’t be left for the last moment.
I had to list this one because I’ve just watched the Sex and The City rerun, and that episode in which Samantha had a chemical-peel-gone-bad just before Carrie’s big party really came as an inspiration. And it’s true that, when it comes to chemicals, you can never be 100% sure that your skin will react well to them. After all, even the hair dye you use every time (which also contains chemicals) gives different results in the days when you have your period or when you are stressed or on medicines/hormones.
It takes a day or two for the skin to get back to normal after the waxing so I always do it three days before the important event. Summer time can be tricky too because we all sweat a lot and those open, irritated pores are very easy to get infected. If that happens you will definitely need those extra two days to get rid of those tiny breakouts so you can proudly show your flawless legs and arms.
Laser procedures are fast and painless but that doesn’t mean they don’t require a recovery period. The skin treated with laser is irritated and red afterwards which, of course, means you can’t slap on some makeup and continue as usual. It takes 3-5 days for the skin to go back to normal and regain its moisture and softness, and you can’t use any makeup and you have to follow the recovery procedure. Yup, a laser treatment could be extra beneficial but you have to give it some time.
Angelina Jolie lips are the dream of every woman, just don’t your rash decision turn this dream into a nightmare and result in you looking like Donatella Versace on your big day. Some women take this procedure great and are good to go the very next day but some look like they have kissed the hot curling iron even three days after the procedure.
If you have never done this before, it’s always better to try it out first because you never know how your skin might react. You may end up looking like a Caribbean beauty, I’ll give you that. But you also may end up looking like a genetically mutated orange, which, by the way, happened to my sister. My dear pale sis decided to give it a go and booked herself a fake-tanning procedure just one evening before her prom… I can post a picture if you want but I’m afraid it might cause nightmares to all of you late night readers…
Getting rid of those pesky lines is every women’s dream and you even if you have managed to resist the urge to get “Botoxed” so far, I can’t blame you for having thoughts about giving it a shot now, just a couple of days before the big high school reunion/your vow renewals/ your kid’s wedding. However, if you have never done it before, have in mind that Botox injections will interfere with your normal facial expressions (think: Marsha Cross) and it will take time to get used to that.
I’m leaving this for last because I’m a bit worried I might have scared you all and, let’s face it, having you hairdresser ruin your hair just a day before the big day is a bummer but it doesn’t exactly qualify as “beyond repair.” I just have to say pay attention, ladies! because this happened to me a few times and, man, I was not happy!
Now, honestly, how many of you had a bad, last-minute makeover experience? And how bad was it?
