The following list are 10 of my favorite love quotes that I’ve come across from a variety of places. Some of the authors are well known and others might be new ones for you to admire.

Some women are able to find true love right off the bad and manage to fall for a really good man. Other women seem to have a bit more difficult time in the realm of love and I think Mae West says it best with her quote. I’m happy to say that I’ve finally found my good one in the bunch!

Anyone Can Be Passionate, but It Takes Real Lovers to Be Silly. – Rose Franken

My husband once offered to write me a sappy love song. I told him that if the song didn’t make me laugh, then I didn’t want it. I don’t mind sentimental love-tinged things from time to time, but it’s the laughter that accompanies love that makes me enjoy being in love in the first place. My husband and I end up catching the kids rolling their eyes at us and our silliness. They’ll understand some day.

Isn’t this the truth? Those of you that have been in what you thought to be the most serious relationship ever, just to have it come crashing to a halt can probably identify with this quote. These are those relationships that prove there really is a fine line between love and hate.

All Love is Sweet, Given or Returned. – Percy Bysshe Shelley

I liked how easily put this quote is. I also whole-heartedly agree with it. I don’t think it’s better to get love than to give it or vice versus, it’s all good no matter how love is passed around.

A Simple I Love You Means More than Money. – Frank Sinatra

I’ve always thought love was way more important than money. Sure, love won’t pay the bills, but it will definitely brighten your day, lift your spirits when they are low, and make you feel as if nothing can go wrong. I’ve been without both during my lifetime and I can honestly say that it’s much easier to go without money than it is to go without love.

When You Are in Love You Can’t Fall Asleep Because Reality is Better than Your Dreams. – Dr Seuss

This is coming from a guy who illustrated books with some of the strangest creatures I’d ever seen. I had always imagined Dr Seuss as the kind of guy who came up with ideas as he slept and that his dreams were filled with things so fantastic that they made daytime boring. I have to say, after reading this quote, I actually thought of Dr Seuss as being more of a normal guy.

Love Doesn’t Make the World Go round, Love is What Makes the Ride Worthwhile. – Elizabeth Browning

I’d always heard the quote about love making the world go ‘round, but I like this quote much better. I definitely does make the ride worthwhile! Places seem more vibrant, people more tolerant, and life in general seems much more enjoyable when you’re in love. Even the down days are made better with the tiniest bit of love.

Love is Friendship Set on Fire. – Jeremy Taylor

My husband and I started off as friends and I don’t feel that we ever lost that friendship after we got married. This quote was a great way to put it. People tend to make friends with someone who later becomes more of a love interest. I like the imagery this quote provides!

The Only True Gift is a Portion of Yourself. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I think there’s so much more involved with giving a piece of your heart to the one you love. Anyone can offer a complete stranger words of wisdom or take time to chat with the neighbor, but it takes love to give unconditionally. I think that is what this quote is referring too. However, I may be reading more into it than there actually is.

A Kiss is a Lovely Trick, Designed by Nature, to Stop Words when Speech Becomes Superfluous. – Ingrid Bergmen

I’m not big on sappy and super romantic quotes, which most love quotes tend to be, especially when kissing is involved. I liked the simplicity behind this quote about kissing and thought it was very well put. It made me think of the old time movies where the man grabs the chatty woman and plants a big romantic kiss on her lips. Sort of comical and sweet at the same time!

I hope you enjoyed this list of 10 of my favorite love quotes. Maybe I’ve provided you with a few new quotes to share with the one you love. I like to write down quotes that I come across, just in case I can use them later on in a greeting card. What are some love quotes you consider to be some of the best ones ever written?
