I'm sure all of you have noticed that when you've got a stuffy nose or a bad cold, you're really unable to taste food. So it goes that 80% of 'taste' is made up by what you can smell. And now, scientists have found that a food's aroma can also trick the brain into making you feel full.
Can you imagine not having to cut back on what you're eating because the food itself does that. Now isn't that the best form of food. One that not only tastes good, but also smells good and encourages you to eat lesser! You want to know one more fun fact from the research? Apparently foods high in fats and carbohydrates make you feel more full than those that are not!!
He says: Oh woow.. and I always thought that aroma was supposed to make you feel more hungry!! I'm going to take in all the smells I can at a restaurant before i order next time :P
She says: Pretty fascinating. Although, reading about this is making me hungry now :)
Though a lot more research has to be done on the topic before it can be implemented commercially, I'm sure that it's not just the research team, but a whole lot of us (if not all) who are more than eager for them to complete their work so that we can smell.. umm reap the benefits!
