The Princess Bride is one of the most iconic romance movies ever. Sure, it's campy, but it's become a cult classic of the highest regard. Westley, Buttercup, Prince Humperdinck … these are names every fan knows, loves, and identifies with. Just last month, the film celebrated its 24th anniversary, but although it came out in 1987, younger generations are falling in love with it as well. Why has it gone viral now? Primarily because, a few days ago, the cast had a reunion – and now Entertainment Weekly featured them in the magazine, a little older but still full of love!
As you can see, those beloved members of the cast who have passed – Andre the Giant and Peter Falk – were still represented in a very lovely way. (And for a larger version, check out Buzzfeed!)
As for where they are now, this awesome reunion video reveals quite a bit:
In addition to parts in campy camp movies (Robin Hood: Men in Tights) and campy horror movies (the Saw franchise), Cary will actually be providing voice work in Disney's upcoming A Christmas Carol along with Robin Wright Penn – who lost the Penn and, of course, took on the iconic role of Jenny in Forrest Gump. Chris Sarandon has starred in lots of awesome flicks, like It's My Party, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Nightmare Before Christmas – he was Jack Skellington! Vizzini, better known as Wallace Shawn, continues to be the most amazing character actor ever, and currently plays in “Gossip Girl.” Mandy Patinkin, after uttering one of the best lines in history – “Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!” – currently stars in “Homeland,” and Christopher Guest/Count Tyrone/The Man with Six Fingers has gone on to be a maker of the most amazing mockumentaries ever made, in addition to being my personal hero. Nothing much ever happened to Miracle Max – except, you know, Billy Crystal is still … well, he's still funny.
So, who was your favorite character in The Princess Bride? What were your favorite lines and scenes? And what would you think about a remake?
