7 Reasons to Be Thankful for Who You Are ...

This world is full of people who hate who they are - they hate what they look like, how big (or small) they are, what color hair and eyes they have...the list goes on and on. It's nothing to hear someone say, "Wow! I wish I looked like her!" But it's the little things like your hair color and size that make you who you are. Every little thing about you makes you special and unique. I'm not saying that you should not eat healthy and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight, but it's great to accept who you are for what you are and be thankful in that. I've made these mistakes. I've wished a thousand times over that I was the tall, skinny, 108 pound blonde that makes all the guys turn their heads, rather than the 1-- pound, 5'4" girl I am, but you know, it was a happy day when I realized that I could be beautiful just the way I was, and that the way I am is the way the universe meant for me to be. So, when you're having a down-on-yourself day, remember these 7 reasons that you, too, can be thankful for who you are.

You're One-of-a-Kind!

You're unique, incredibly special! Nobody, not even a twin, is exactly like you. Therefore, you have something to offer the world that no one else can. How's that for being special? Somewhere, deep inside you, you have a talent, a gift, that you can offer the world that not one other person can. You should really look into finding that talent and making it something that can make a memorable difference in this world. Leave your mark, let future generations know that you were here! Can you imagine where this world would be if men like Thomas Edison or Benjamin Franklin never used their talents? What about Bach and Beethoven? Without these men using their special gifts for what God gave them to them for, we would be a society much less blessed, let me tell you!

You Understand Yourself

If you've ever been in or are currently in a relationship, you know how hard it is to understand your partner, or get them to always understand you - it's nearly impossible. However, when you're you, you have no problem understanding yourself! That's awesome! At least there is one person in this world that understands you! You alone, will always understand why you're hurting, always understand why you're angry.

Frequently asked questions

3

You Can do It!

Ever read the children's book, The Little Engine That Could? Inside you, you can find the strength to do anything you set your mind to doing. There have been times in these past couple years that I've really proven to myself that I can do what I want to when I set my mind to it. You can too! All you have to do is set your mind to it and get busy!

4

You Have Personality

Everyone's personality is different. Some are outgoing, some are quiet, some are helpful...what's your personality? Whatever it is, it is another characteristic that makes you unique. Embrace your personality and don't let people tell you that you should change. If you don't want to change who you are, then don't. It's that simple. Too many times, friends pressure their quiet, shy friends to step out of their comfort zone and try being outgoing. Sometimes, this works, and sometimes it doesn't. I find that in the times that it didn't work, the shy person didn't really want to change and be different, and so, things went terribly. Never let anyone pressure you to be something you aren't or don't want to be. Be yourself, and those that are your true friends will like you for who you are.

5

You Have Confidence

You have confidence, (or at least you should) about who you are and what your goals are in life. A person with confidence in what they can do and who they are can go long ways in this world. So, stand up, square them shoulders, and own who you are. Your confidence will carry you many miles!

You Have Strength

So maybe you're not the strongest in the gym, but maybe you have more brain power than all those people working out in the gym combined! We all have a strength, we just have to find it and use it to our benefit. Going back to your school days may lend a hand in helping you find your current strength. What was your strongest subject in school? Good in math? Maybe you would make a superb accountant! Were you good in English, loving all those long essays and diagrams? Perhaps you'd make a wonderful lawyer! Whatever your school strength, somehow it will be linked to a great adult strength that you can use to your benefit in life. You have a strength that makes you, well, YOU!

You Have What It Takes to Make a Difference

God made each and every one of us to serve a purpose in this life. We were never meant to just exist to exist for the heck of it. We all have a reason, a purpose for living. The sad thing is that most people waste their days of youth on drugs and alcohol, "living the good life" and in the end, never find their purpose for living. What would this world be today if everyone found his full potential and made the most out of his life? I beg you, find your purpose and use it to make this world a better place. As I said before, leave your mark. Let the generations that will live long after we have left the scene know that you were more than just a co-exister, that you had purpose and you used it to change the world!

I do hope that this article has helped you to see that you are truly a wonderful person the way you are. Please feel free to leave your comments and thoughts about what you've read! I love hearing what my readers think! Have a wonderful day!
